Cabinet Maker Senior Job Description

Job Summary:

This is a senior-level position responsible for fabricating complex cabinets and other wood-surfaced subassemblies for installation in aircraft. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cabinetmaking and experience working in the aerospace industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Fabricate high-quality furniture and other wood-surfaced subassemblies using stationary and handheld tools.
  2. Interpret material specifications and design/engineering drawings to ensure finished products meet design and engineering requirements.
  3. Utilize various woodworking tools and techniques to achieve high-quality results.
  4. Comply with and champion safety, 5S, and housekeeping policies to ensure the protection of aircraft interiors.
  5. Work with lead and higher-skilled technicians to develop and implement process improvements using Lean Six-Sigma and other process improvement techniques.
  6. Utilize the material tracking system to create parts demand, track squawks, and sign-off work.

Additional Responsibilities:

  1. Accept lead responsibilities when required, mentoring and training lesser-skilled technicians.
  2. Oversee projects and coordinate with lead to delegate tasks to assigned technicians.
  3. Conduct safety audits and assist team members in doing safety audits.
  4. Assist in maintaining shop equipment and associated JSAs.
  5. Coordinate with other backshops when necessary.
  6. Adapt to sudden schedule changes.

Requirements:

  1. Demonstrate excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  2. Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  3. Able to climb ladders and stairs, work in small restricted areas, lift up to 40 pounds, and work any shift.
  4. Must be computer literate.
  5. Advanced knowledge of cabinetmaking processes and products.
  6. Possess a working knowledge of Gulfstream inspection and process specifications preferred.
