Position: Mechanic II
Position Summary:
Under the general oversight of the Director of Engineering, the Mechanic II is responsible for the installation, assessment, operation, and repair of essential utility systems and equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct inspections and maintenance of utility systems and equipment.
- Record and analyze readings from thermometers and gauges.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on utility systems and equipment.
- Adjust and troubleshoot utility systems as necessary.
- Test and calibrate electrical control systems and thermostats.
- Lubricate and repair mechanical components including compressors and motors.
- Operate Building Control Systems to ensure compliance with operational requirements.
- Maintain equipment rooms and perform routine checks for optimal operation.
- Implement lockout/tagout procedures to ensure safety during maintenance.
- Identify and respond to utility equipment alarms and malfunctions.
Qualifications:
A. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong customer service orientation.
- Proficient in reading and understanding English.
- Critical and analytical thinking skills with minimal supervision.
- Ability to manage high-stress situations effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-sufficient and capable of independent work.
- Adaptable to changing job functions and requirements.
- Basic computer skills.
- Physical capability to perform light lifting and maneuver effectively.
B. Education:
High School diploma or GED required.
C. Experience:
Minimum of three to four years in facilities maintenance.
D. Other Requirements:
Exposure to various equipment and tools, including multi-meters and hand tools.
This position does not involve direct patient contact.
Performance Standards:
The Mechanic II is expected to maintain a clean work environment, demonstrate organizational skills, and accurately complete maintenance reports. The employee should also be capable of making informed decisions and effectively managing time while adhering to safety protocols.
