Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Office Assistant to join our team at Bassett Healthcare Network. As a Medical Office Assistant, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional customer service and administrative support to our ambulatory patient care teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative support to ambulatory patient care teams, including scheduling appointments, registering patients, and handling phone calls and messages.
  • Collect demographic and financial information from patients, ensuring accurate and timely revenue capture.
  • Process electronic or written requests for urgent referrals and routine referrals within 24-72 hours.
  • Assure that a high-quality patient experience takes place by providing excellent customer service, attention to detail, and interpersonal skills.
  • Responsible for maintaining required knowledge and proficiency in all core functions of front desk services, including demographic and financial screening, insurance eligibility and verification, and regulatory and compliance monitoring.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED, preferred; Associate Degree, preferred.
  • Minimum one year of relevant work experience, required; minimum one year of customer service experience, preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive patient information.
  • Basic computer skills, with proficiency in electronic medical records and scheduling systems.
