Job Overview

The University of Cincinnati's Department of Biological Sciences is seeking qualified candidates for annual adjunct instructor positions. As an adjunct instructor, you will be responsible for teaching Freshman Biology labs, with opportunities to instruct other biology-related courses based on your expertise and departmental needs.

Appointments are renewable based on departmental need, enrollments, and teaching performance. Teaching assignments are made on a semester-by-semester basis, with office hours required to meet with students as needed. Classes may be held during the day or evening, and every effort will be made to accommodate your schedule preferences.

Rank and compensation are based on experience and academic credentials. As an annual adjunct instructor, you will be eligible for benefits, including comprehensive insurance plans, flexible spending accounts, and tuition remission for you and your eligible dependents.

Essential Functions

  • Teach assigned undergraduate and/or graduate-level courses and seminars on a part-time basis.
  • May serve as an academic adviser for students and evaluate student coursework.
  • Engage in other activities ancillary to or in support of your responsibilities.
  • Review and respond to all University-related communications in a timely manner.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • Academic degree in an appropriate discipline and prior teaching experience.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to present complex material to students unfamiliar with a subject.
  • Ability to work and collaborate with individuals from various backgrounds.
