Job Title: Packaging Manager

At fairlife, LLC, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Packaging Manager to join our team in Goodyear, AZ. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for overseeing the 24/7 packaging hall operations, ensuring the efficient flow of bottles and cases across the site, and creating a modern and collaborative work culture for our employees.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Cultivate a culture of zero losses through standardization and loss elimination.
  • Utilize a CI and lean approach to solve and eliminate issues from the packaging process.
  • Act as the lead and primary point of contact for all change-over activities, utilizing the SME and Operator bench to drive a PDCA cadence and constantly improve bottle-to-bottle times and OEE recovery time.
  • Responsible for leading and managing plant operations within our packaging department, overseeing strategic projects, initiatives, and programs in off-shift hours.
  • Responsible for the results of the packaging department, ensuring the right product is delivered at the right time, meeting our strict quality parameters and ready to be shipped.
  • Work to establish and cascade relevant Key Performance Indicators throughout the department, ensuring timely reporting to peers, team members, and senior leaders.
  • Reviews inventories and production plans daily with the site planning team, coordinating schedule demands with staff and product movement personnel.
  • Supports key capital projects and commercialization projects relevant to the packaging department.
  • Reviews all nonconforming products and materials with Quality Assurance and Packaging Engineering Team.
  • Monitors packaging department throughout shifts, ensuring employee compliance with GMP's, sanitation, food safety, and employee safety protocols.
  • Drives employee engagement for the night shift with programs and activities designed to get the best from the teams.
  • Partners with our Maintenance team to ensure all equipment stays in good working condition.
  • Manages team members across a 24/7 operation, with a core focus on second shift.
  • Performs other duties as necessary.
Requirements:
  • Required:
    • Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, brewing engineering, operations management, or other quantitative discipline with a demonstrated and proven knowledge of fluid dynamics in a beverage manufacturing environment.
    • At least five (5) years of beverage industry manufacturing experience, with dairy industry experience and both ESL and Aseptic experience highly preferred.
    • Self-starter with a drive for continuous improvement daily.
    • Organized and methodical thinker.
    • Superior communication skills.
    • Ability to read and understand P&ID's.
  • Preferred:
    • Working knowledge of the regulatory and food safety PMO, FDA, PCQI, FSMA, CCPs, and thermal processing and Preventive Controls.
    • Continuous Improvement mindset, including root cause analysis, strategic planning, Lean, or TPM principals.
    • Ability to meet production schedules with shifting priorities.
    • Understanding the chemistry of cleaning and CIP/SIP/COP programs, with a preference for 3A guidelines.
    • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
    • Demonstrated success working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
Food Safety Requirements:
  • Responsible for maintaining critical control points, aseptic requirements, and regulatory standards at all times.
  • Accountable for passing internal Quality and Food Safety program audits.
  • Perform all duties necessary to meet Company, Customer, and/or Government requirements/standards as prioritized by the Company.
  • Ability to initiate action to prevent the occurrence of nonconformities relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the product, processes, quality system, or safety system.
  • Identify and record any problems relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the ingredients, processes, quality system, or safety system.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
  • 10 hours sitting/standing/walking.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Reaching/bending requirements: Yes, both reaching and bending.
  • Exposure to hazards (machinery, confined spaces, etc.): Yes, wet spaces.
