Job Summary:

As a Radiologic Technologist at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a vital role in the clinic as both a CT Technologist and a Radiographer. Your primary responsibility will be to operate general radiography equipment and computed tomography imaging scanners to produce high-quality images of specified areas of the body, in accordance with the Radiologist's instructions. You will utilize your knowledge of CT/RT techniques and procedures, sterile techniques, basic nursing procedures, patient care and monitoring, anatomical relationships, and the contour and composition of body tissues to ensure accurate and effective imaging.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Image Acquisition: Position patients to obtain desired images in accordance with physician instructions and using knowledge of human anatomy. Operate CT/Gen Rad equipment to produce images of specified areas of the body, using knowledge of physiology and cross-sectional anatomy. Monitor images and make necessary adjustments to obtain optimal images.
  • Equipment Operation: Operate and effectively utilize PACS equipment, including computer operations, digital image transfer, post-processing functions, and other devices. Process and transmit images according to established department protocols and standard operating procedures.
  • Patient Care: Consistently operate the Radiology Information System to ensure accurate patient information by tracking patient in/out of procedure rooms, tracking supplies/images obtained, identifying patient demographic information, and tracking repeated scanning sequences. Start IVs and monitor patients during contrast administration under the direction of a physician.
  • Quality Control: Maintain quality control of all CT/Gen Rad procedures and related equipment by monitoring the operating condition of the equipment and evaluating image quality. Participate in all ACR accreditation requirements as required.
  • Record Keeping: Prepare and maintain CT/Gen Rad records and files, as required. Maintain daily logs and enter statistics into computers as needed.
  • Supply Management:
  • Equipment Maintenance: Monitor and maintain inventory of supplies used in providing CT/Gen Rad services according to established guidelines. Maintain equipment and work areas in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Communication: Communicate clearly, effectively, and appropriately at all times. Communicate verbally in a clear and concise manner. Demonstrate courteous and appropriate telephone skills. Communicate in writing accurately, completely, and legibly, and route such communication appropriately and in a timely manner.
  • Patient-Centered Care: Consider the cognitive, physical, emotional, and chronological maturation process in delivery of services to patients in the age group served. Assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs, and provide the care needed in accordance with department policy.
  • Clinical Judgment: Exercise clinical judgment within the scope of practice.
Requirements:
  • Education: High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required. Successful completion of a two-year radiologic technology training program approved by the American Medical Association; and registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists ARRT (R), plus currently registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists ARRT (C).
  • Experience: Recent experience as a Radiologic Technologist working in a medical imaging department and six (6) months of recent computed tomography experience required or recent graduates of a CT cross-training program may be considered.
  • Certification: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certificate - Computed Tomography from American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Additional Experience: Two (2) or more years medical imaging experience in a trauma center or emergency department with recent CT experience.
  • Education: Associates degree or higher.
