Position Overview
Educational Background & Experience:
A bachelor's degree is required, with a preference for an advanced degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline. CPA or equivalent certification is preferred.
Experience in the non-profit sector is highly valued.
Proficiency in accounting software and the Microsoft Office Suite is essential.
Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) is required.
Exceptional attention to detail and analytical capabilities.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Excellent communication and collaborative abilities.
Familiarity with relevant local, state, and federal financial regulations for non-profits.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management:
Maintain precise financial records, including accounts payable and receivable, ensuring that all financial transactions are accurately documented.
Financial Reporting:
Generate regular financial statements, reports, and analyses for both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring transparency and accountability in financial disclosures.
Grants and Funding Management:
Assist in the preparation of budgets for grant proposals, monitor grant funds, and ensure adherence to grant requirements and reporting obligations.
Tax Compliance:
Prepare and submit annual tax returns while staying updated on tax laws and regulations applicable to non-profit organizations.
Audit Coordination:
Organize and prepare documentation for annual financial audits, collaborating closely with external auditors to ensure compliance with audit standards.
Internal Controls Development:
Establish and uphold effective internal controls and best practices to protect the organization's financial resources and ensure accuracy.
Donor Contributions Management:
Record and acknowledge donations from contributors, maintaining accurate donor records for transparency and stewardship.
Payroll and Benefits Administration:
Oversee payroll and benefits, ensuring compliance with financial regulations related to employee compensation.
Financial Planning Support:
Provide financial analysis and assistance for strategic planning and decision-making, aiding the organization in effectively achieving its mission.
