Job Title: Direct Support Professional

Alternatives, Inc. is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Support Professional to join our team. As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a vital role in supporting adults with developmental disabilities in our day program setting.


About the Role

As a Direct Support Professional, you will be responsible for assisting individuals with developmental disabilities in achieving their goals and living their best lives. You will work closely with our team to implement individual behavioral plans, teach new skills, and encourage participation in community outings and recreational activities.


Responsibilities
  • Assist individuals with developmental disabilities in achieving their goals and living their best lives
  • Implement individual behavioral plans and teach new skills
  • Encourage participation in community outings and recreational activities
  • Report any concerns about health and safety and maintain accurate documentation

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record
  • Ability to pass criminal/registry background checks and a drug screen
  • Clear tuberculosis (TB) screening
  • Ability to pass and maintain required trainings such as CPR/first aid, medication administration, and positive behavioral support training
  • Basic computer skills

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities is preferred, but not required. We are looking for individuals who are compassionate, have strong communication and interpersonal skills, and are able to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.


Work Schedule

Direct Support Professionals work shifts from Mondays through Fridays from 8am until 4pm. Weekends are not required for AIM Day Program staff.
