Job Overview:

The Facility Maintenance Specialist is tasked with ensuring the cleanliness and upkeep of equipment, facilities, and surrounding grounds. This role is also commonly known as a Sanitation Technician. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough cleaning operations, including utilizing compressed air and other methods to maintain plant equipment.
  • Perform scrubbing, sanitizing, vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping duties.
  • Manage waste disposal, clean spills, replace air fresheners, change light bulbs, secure premises, paint, maintain water coolers, and prepare facilities for events such as meetings or banquets.
  • Maintain cleanliness in offices, restrooms, break rooms, and other areas.
  • Assist in moving furniture, supplies, and equipment within departments or to storage, and support other departments as needed.
  • Apply insecticides and fumigants, trim shrubbery, and perform outdoor maintenance, including clearing walkways of snow or leaves.
  • Engage in safety programs, participate in committees, and utilize Personal Protective Equipment as required. Report any repair needs, spills, safety concerns, or hazardous situations to supervision.
  • Keep records of maintenance activities, monitor cleaning supplies, and restock as necessary in restrooms, break rooms, and other areas.
  • Operate powered industrial trucks for moving, transferring, loading, and unloading tasks.
  • Consistently meet efficiency and safety standards for the role.
  • Follow instructions as provided by supervision and maintain a tidy work area.
  • Perform additional tasks as required.

Additional Responsibilities:

Assist in other production roles as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to recognize colors and sizes, and accurately count and sort items.
  • In certain locations, certification to safely operate powered industrial trucks may be required.
  • Basic understanding of cleaning products and procedures, or a willingness to learn.
  • Capability to prioritize multiple tasks and work effectively within a team.
  • Ability to work independently and follow both written and verbal instructions.

Education:

No formal education requirements.

Physical Requirements:

Physical demands include standing, walking, bending, reaching, twisting, working in confined spaces, overhead reaching, pushing, pulling, grasping, lifting up to 90 lbs., carrying up to 50 lbs., and stooping.

Work Environment:

Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor settings typical of an industrial laundry facility, involving interaction with large machinery, general office environments, and outdoor grounds, with exposure to varying temperatures, odors, humidity, lint, and dust.

Travel Requirements:

No travel is required.

Physical requirements necessitate the ability to meet the demands of the position throughout the entire shift.
