Position Overview:
The Patient Care Technician II plays a vital role in delivering compassionate care to patients under the guidance of licensed nursing staff.
Work Schedule:
Full-time position consisting of three 12-hour shifts each week, primarily during daytime hours from 7 AM to 7 PM.
This role is situated within a specialized unit that caters to patients with complex medical needs, bridging the gap between general medical-surgical care and intensive care. The unit is designed to support both novice and seasoned nursing professionals in their career development, providing a nurturing environment to enhance their skills and knowledge in patient care.
The diverse patient demographic includes individuals with a range of conditions affecting various organ systems, such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), heart failure, diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), sepsis, respiratory failure, kidney disease, and stroke, among others.
Our collaborative care team comprises nurses, nursing assistants, charge nurses, physicians, case managers, and therapists, all working together to ensure optimal patient outcomes. The team engages in various committees focused on quality improvement and patient safety, contributing to initiatives that enhance the overall care experience.

Key Responsibilities:
Essential Duties
1. Assist patients with daily living activities, including hygiene, mobility, hydration, and nutrition.
2. Provide routine treatments while maintaining a safe and organized patient environment.
3. Ensure the safety and security of patients, families, and team members.
4. Uphold patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.
5. Follow standard health precautions, including proper hand hygiene between patient interactions.
6. Support the admission, transfer, and discharge processes for patients.
7. Monitor and document vital signs and other relevant patient information as directed.
8. Communicate any changes in patient condition to the nursing staff promptly.
9. Participate in patient handoff reports and regular rounding to ensure comprehensive care.
10. Deliver exceptional service to patients, families, and colleagues.
11. Maintain a clean and organized nursing unit.
12. Manage incoming communications and assist with patient transport as needed.
Qualifications:
Education and Training
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of one year of experience as a nursing assistant within the last five years, or completion of an approved nursing assistant program.
- Certification as a Nursing Assistant or Patient Care Assistant is preferred.
Licensure/Certification:
- Current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification is mandatory.
Experience:
- At least one year of relevant experience in a healthcare setting is preferred, although new graduates from accredited nursing programs may be considered.
