About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced UG O&M Fixed Plant Supervisor to join our team at Rio Tinto Group. As a key member of our Underground Operations and Maintenance Group, you will be responsible for leading a team of technicians and mechanics to ensure the effective and efficient operation of various systems critical to the underground mine operation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and Manage a Team: Provide guidance, training, and support to a team of technicians and mechanics to ensure they are equipped to perform their duties effectively.
  • Operate, Maintain, and Repair Systems: Oversee the operation, maintenance, and repair of underground ventilation and cooling systems, East Plant HVAC systems, mine water collection and dewatering systems, and compressed air and service water systems.
  • Develop and Implement Preventive Maintenance Programs: Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and Resolve Complex Issues: Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to HVAC and mechanical systems.
  • Coordinate Maintenance and Repair Activities: Coordinate maintenance and repair activities with other departments to minimize disruptions to operations.
  • Communicate Effectively: Communicate effectively with management, providing regular updates on system performance and project status.
  • Assist with Budget Development: Assist in the development and management of the department's budget.
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 Years of Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in managing maintenance activities in an industrial or mining setting.
  • Strong Knowledge of Systems: Strong knowledge of underground ventilation and cooling systems, industrial HVAC systems, mine water collection and dewatering systems, and compressed air and service water systems.
  • Excellent Leadership and Team Management Skills: Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to provide guidance, training, and support to a team of technicians and mechanics.
  • Strong Problem-Solving and Troubleshooting Abilities: Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities, with the ability to resolve complex issues related to HVAC and mechanical systems.
  • Excellent Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with management and other departments.
  • Ability to Work in a Fast-Paced Environment: Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, with a focus on safety and efficiency.
  • Knowledge of Safety Regulations and Best Practices: Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in mechanical systems, with a focus on minimizing risk and ensuring a safe working environment.
