Senior Packaging Engineer Job Description

Cryopak, a leading manufacturer of cold chain & temperature-controlled packaging solutions, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Packaging Engineer to lead engineering product design, development, and laboratory services for projects related to packaging engineering.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage packaging engineering projects, write test protocols and reports, create CAD models and drawings, conduct thermal tests using FEA techniques, maintain lab equipment, and provide support to the sales group with test data and project status reporting.
  • Numerical simulations and analysis of Cryopak solutions using FEA techniques, simulation using Ansys and experimental measurements for validations (environmental chambers), conception and design of prototypes.
  • Technical reports and attending meetings with clients, reading and understanding mechanical engineering drawings (2D & 3D).
  • Plans and formulates aspects of research and development proposals, oversees key projects, processes, and performance reports, data, and analysis, plans documentation system.
  • Selects correct design concepts and fundamental technology used for new products or improvement for existing ones, reviews and analyzes proposals submitted to determine if benefits derived and possible applications justify expenditures.
  • Approves and submits proposals considered feasible to management for consideration and allocation of funds or allocates funds from the department budget, develops and implements methods and procedures for monitoring projects.
  • Works with the manufacturing, operations, and quality manager to review and monitor quality and process improvements and new product development, directs the review of production costs and product quality and modifies production and inventory control programs to maintain and enhance the profitable operation of the division.
  • Reviews operations and plans to meet requirements for sales planning and to ascertain engineering requirements to develop new markets, directs appropriate support for manufacturing and quality functions within the organization.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Packaging, or related Engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in packaging engineering or a relevant industry.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and 3D/2D CAD modeling/drawing.
  • Knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer principles, packaging materials, and testing standards (e.g., ASTM, ISTA) and FEA techniques.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
