Senior Packaging Engineer

At Cryopak, we are seeking a highly experienced Senior Packaging Engineer to lead engineering product design, development, and laboratory services for projects related to packaging engineering. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing packaging engineering projects, writing test protocols and reports, creating CAD models and drawings, conducting thermal tests using FEA techniques, maintaining lab equipment, and providing support to the sales group with test data and project status reporting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement numerical simulations and analysis of Cryopak solutions using FEA techniques, including simulation using Ansys and experimental measurements for validations in environmental chambers.
  • Conceive and design prototypes for packaging solutions.
  • Prepare and present technical reports and attend meetings with clients.
  • Read and understand mechanical engineering drawings (2D & 3D).
  • Plan and formulate research and development proposals, including the objective or purpose of the project, applications that can be used from findings, costs of the project, and equipment and human resource requirements.
  • Oversee key projects, processes, and performance reports, data, and analysis, and plan documentation systems.
  • Select correct design concepts and fundamental technology used for new products or improvement for existing ones.
  • Review and analyze proposals submitted to determine if benefits derived and possible applications justify expenditures.
  • Approve and submit proposals considered feasible to management for consideration and allocation of funds or allocate funds from the department budget.
  • Develop and implement methods and procedures for monitoring projects, including the preparation of records of expenditures and research findings, progress reports, and staff conferences to inform management of the current status of each project.
  • Work with the manufacturing, operations, and quality manager to review and monitor quality and process improvements and new product development.
  • Direct the review of production costs and product quality and modify production and inventory control programs to maintain and enhance the profitable operation of the division.
  • Review operations and plans to meet requirements for sales planning and to ascertain engineering requirements to develop new markets.
  • Direct appropriate support for manufacturing and quality functions within the organization.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Packaging, or related Engineering discipline. 5+ years of experience in packaging engineering or a relevant industry.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and 3D/2D CAD modeling/drawing.
  • Knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer principles, packaging materials, and testing standards (e.g., ASTM, ISTA) and FEA techniques.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
