Job Overview

In this role as a Telecom Fiber Optic Network Specialist with TDX Corporation, you will have the opportunity to work on various projects related to telecommunications and fiber optic cable installation.

This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about working in a fast-paced environment and have experience in performing fiber optic fusion splicing, cable installations, and other related tasks.

About the Role

The Telecom Fiber Optic Network Specialist will be responsible for installing and maintaining telecommunications networks using fiber optic cables. This includes reading design drawings, interpreting blueprints, and following installation guides.

You will also be required to perform fusion splicing on mass and single fiber optic cables, operate core alignment machines, and install fiber sleeve, wipes, cable tags, and tie wraps.

An essential part of this role is ensuring that installations comply with applicable codes, such as ANSI/TIA/EIA 588-B Commercial Building Telecommunication Cabling Standard, and communicating with customers and the team regarding safety and local code requirements.

Additionally, you will be assisting in proposal development, project preparation activities, and completing site surveys to verify site construction diagrams and materials.

Key Responsibilities
  • Fusion splicing of mass and single fiber optic cables
  • Reading and interpreting design drawings, blueprints, and installation guides
  • Operating core alignment machines
  • Installing fiber sleeve, wipes, cable tags, and tie wraps
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards
  • Communicating with customers and the team regarding safety and local code requirements
  • Assisting in proposal development and project preparation activities
  • Completing site surveys to verify site construction diagrams and materials
Requirements
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in fiber optic fusion splicing
  • High level understanding of fiber optic cable installation procedures
  • Demonstrated ability to use basic hand and power tools
  • Knowledge of low-voltage wiring, insulated rubber gloves, and confined spaces
  • Certification from a lineman school desired but not required
