Senior Fleet Maintenance Specialist at US Foods, Inc.

The Heavy Duty Diesel Repair Technician position involves troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing diesel equipment to ensure compliance with safety standards and maintain a clean work environment. This role requires hands-on experience in heavy-duty commercial diesel maintenance, flexibility, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Main Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, rebuild, replace, and complete all required repairs on diesel equipment (tractors, trailers, bobtails, reefers, lift gates, etc.).
  • Perform preventative maintenance according to company standards.
  • Document all repair orders, PM lists, and parts accountability.
  • Handle road service calls and perform road rescue/transport equipment as needed.
  • Log in and out of the Shop Fax system to track assigned repairs.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with workplace safety rules, regulations, and government guidelines.
  • Manage inventory and proper recordkeeping.
  • Support other maintenance shop personnel.
  • Be willing and able to assume increased responsibility and certifications.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • At least three years of verifiable hands-on experience as a heavy-duty commercial diesel mechanic or reefer mechanic or a combination of both.
  • Demonstrated diagnostic and troubleshooting competency relating to equipment repairs.
  • Independent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Prior experience administering an appropriate PM program.
  • Furnish own personal hand tools.
  • CDL A and DOT certified, preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to comply with EPA and OSHA regulations pertaining to the shop and fleet.
  • Reefer experience.
  • Excellent communication skills to attend trainings, hold conversations, receive safety and job-related coaching, read and understand technical and service manuals.
  • Able to communicate with co-workers and drivers with demonstrated teamwork skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple functions simultaneously in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Computer and software experience.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends.
  • Overtime is available when needed.
