Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Grocery Management Assistant to join our team at Harris Teeter. As a key member of our Grocery Department, you will be responsible for assisting in the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in managing and supervising up to 25 associates in the Grocery Department
  • May be assigned responsibility for the HBC/GM Department
  • Responsible for assisting with the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these departments
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Harris Teeter's policies and applicable laws
  • Interview and train associates; plan, assign, and direct work; assist in appraising performance; reward and discipline associates; address complaints and resolve problems
Requirements
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Willingness to participate in and successfully complete required training
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to write simple correspondence
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of HT Internet software; E-mail; Inventory software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software
  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
