About the Role

As a Behavioral Health Specialist at Oscar Health, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality, evidence-based integrated behavioral health care in an integrated primary care setting.

You will work closely with a collaborative primary care team, consisting of Primary Care Providers (PCPs), psychiatric consultants, and behavioral health coordinators to provide direct patient care to a panel of Oscar Primary Care patients. This includes conducting assessments, providing brief interventions using structured techniques such as Motivational Interviewing and Problem-Solving Treatment, and supporting psychotropic medication management prescribed by PCPs.

Your responsibilities will include managing a panel of patients with mild to moderate behavioral health conditions, collaborating with medical assistants and other healthcare professionals to support care plans, documenting patient progress, and facilitating treatment plan changes and referrals as needed.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage a panel of 200-250 patients with mild to moderate behavioral health conditions per month.
  • Provide brief interventions using evidence-based techniques such as Motivational Interviewing and Problem-Solving Treatment.
  • Support psychotropic medication management prescribed by PCPs, focusing on treatment adherence, side effects, and effectiveness.
  • Perform assessments and provide short-term treatment interventions to patients meeting program criteria.
  • Collaborate with medical assistants, behavioral health coordinators, and PCPs to support care plans.
  • Document patient progress and treatment recommendations for easy sharing with PCPs and other treating providers.
  • Facilitate treatment plan changes and referrals for patients not improving or needing higher-level care.
Requirements:
  • LCSW or LPC with 2+ years of outpatient work experience.
  • Spanish language fluency.
  • Experience with brief, structured intervention techniques (e.g., Motivational Interviewing, Behavioral Activation, Problem Solving Treatment).
  • Must be licensed in Texas.
