Patient Care Technician

SSM Health is seeking a Patient Care Tech to join our team at St. Mary's Hospital Madison. As a Patient Care Tech, you will assist in performing a variety of nursing care services for patients, including receiving patient care assignments, initiating delegated tasks, and collecting and documenting data for admission assessments and reassessments.
Responsibilities- Assist with baths, ambulating, feeding, skin care, personal and oral hygiene, and making occupied and unoccupied beds.
- Perform dressing changes, enemas, ostomy care, toileting, turning, cough and deep breathing, catheter care, collection of biological specimens, measuring and recording intake and output of fluids.
- Prepare patients for discharge and accompany them upon dismissal as indicated.
- Stock and maintain supplies and equipment in keeping with patient care needs and cost containment.
- Utilize time and supplies economically and conscientiously.
- Assist with delegated clerical duties, such as answering telephones, relaying messages, transcription of physician orders, and preparing and organizing the patient's medical record.
- Orient new patients and significant others to the nursing unit.
- Perform mechanical and manual operation of equipment as recommended in user's manual, with ability to recognize common mechanical problems and initiate appropriate corrective action.
- Passing grade on state of work location required exam.
- No experience required.
- Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA).
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) - Wisconsin Department of Health Services or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) - Wisconsin Nurse Aide Registry.

Work EnvironmentThis is a full-time night shift position working 12-hour shifts from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. for a total of 36 hours per week. The schedule also includes an every third weekend rotation and a holiday rotation.
