Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Behavioral Health Therapist to join our team at Mid Michigan Health. As a key member of our primary care team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to our patients.

Responsibilities
  • Assess the clinical status of patients referred by primary care providers and intervene to attenuate further psychological or physical deterioration.
  • Assist primary care providers in recognizing and treating mental disorders and psychological problems, and consult with physicians as necessary.
  • Facilitate and ensure patient engagement and follow-up care, and work with the primary care team to treat and manage patients with chronic emotional and/or physical health problems.
  • Provide brief behavioral interventions using evidence-based techniques, such as behavioral activation, problem-solving treatment, and motivational interviewing.
  • Assist in preventing relapse in conditions that tend to recur over time, and systematically document treatment response and monitor patients for changes in clinical symptoms and treatment side effects or complications.
Requirements
  • Masters Degree in Social Work or related field.
  • Licensure as a Licensed Psychologist or Master's Social Worker in the State of Michigan.
  • Membership in at least one professional organization, such as the American Psychological Association or National Association of Social Workers.
  • Training and experience in casework principles, including diagnosis, assessment, crisis intervention, treatment, and transition planning.
  • Knowledge of Integrated Behavioral Health practices, processes, and procedures, as well as interpersonal skills needed to communicate successfully with individuals and groups.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, trauma, grief, and death. The successful candidate must be able to move freely about the facility with or without an assisted device and perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description.
