Construction Project Manager

The Senior Project Manager will oversee all phases of public works and K-12 education construction projects, ensuring timely delivery, budget adherence, and high-quality results. This role involves significant leadership in managing project teams, maintaining client relationships, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements specific to public sector construction.
Key Responsibilities:- Project Management: Plan, coordinate, and execute public works and K-12 education construction projects, from pre-construction through project closeout, ensuring all work is completed on schedule, within budget, and meets client expectations.
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor project teams, including project engineers, superintendents, and subcontractors, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment focused on delivering successful outcomes.
- Client & Stakeholder Relations: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, school districts, and other public entities, maintaining strong relationships and ensuring effective communication with all stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
- Budget & Cost Control: Develop and manage detailed project budgets, reviewing cost estimates, monitoring project financials, and implementing cost-saving measures where applicable. Approve invoices, change orders, and payment applications.
- Scheduling & Coordination: Create and maintain project schedules, ensuring milestones are met and project timelines are adhered to. Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams to keep the project on track.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all projects comply with local, state, and federal regulations, particularly those relevant to public sector construction and educational facilities. Manage inspections and approvals with relevant authorities.
- Risk Management: Identify potential risks and challenges that could impact project delivery. Develop and implement mitigation strategies to ensure successful project completion.
- Quality Control: Oversee all work to ensure compliance with contract specifications, industry standards, and safety regulations. Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress and quality of work.
- Safety Oversight: Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with OSHA standards and company safety policies. Promote a culture of safety on-site through regular safety meetings and inspections.
- Change Order Management: Manage and negotiate change orders, ensuring that scope changes are documented and reflected in project timelines and budgets.
- Project Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including contracts, RFIs, submittals, and progress reports. Provide regular updates to clients and internal teams on project status.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction project management, with a focus on public works and K-12 education projects. Proven experience managing large, complex projects with public sector clients is required.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent work experience will be considered.
- Project Expertise: Strong understanding of the unique requirements of public works and educational facility construction, including knowledge of DSA (Division of the State Architect) processes and public bidding requirements.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project) and Microsoft Office Suite. Familiarity with public works procurement and contract management systems.
- Communication & Leadership: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to lead diverse teams and communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders. Strong leadership and decision-making abilities.
- Problem-Solving: Demonstrated ability to proactively identify and resolve issues during the construction process, particularly in the context of public works and educational facility requirements.
- Certifications: OSHA 10 or 30 certification preferred. LEED accreditation or experience with sustainable construction practices is a plus.
