Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team at First Step of Sarasota, Inc. as a Residential Treatment Nurse. In this role, you will play a vital part in promoting and restoring clients' health by completing the nursing process, collaborating with physicians, and working closely with multidisciplinary team members.

Responsibilities
  • Identify client care requirements by establishing a rapport with clients and other stakeholders, providing emotional and psychological support, and promoting client independence.
  • Coordinate daily activities with the Court Services Office to provide admission nursing screens and assessments, ensuring a smooth transition for clients entering residential or detoxification services.
  • Assist physicians with weekly medical and psychiatric clinics, promoting client health outcomes and quality of care.
  • Establish client care goals, teach clients self-care skills, and provide psychoeducational groups to promote client well-being.
  • Ensure quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards, measuring health outcomes, and making necessary adjustments.
  • Provide nursing sick call clinics, recommend referrals, and protect clients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
  • Document client care services, maintain confidentiality, and adhere to established confidentiality policies and procedures.
  • Provide nursing support to the detoxification unit, oversee technicians, and maintain inter- and intradepartmental work flow.
Requirements
  • Current Florida licensure as a Registered Nurse
  • One year general nursing experience and/or substance abuse/mental health nursing experience
  • Strong people skills to provide excellent internal and external customer service
