Job Summary:

The Safety and Risk Supervisor is responsible for coordinating safety and risk management activities and initiatives within our business units. This role interacts with various departments to ensure compliance with our Safety Management System (SMS) and serves as the central repository for all SMS documents, policies, and manuals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the investigation and reporting of all safety incidents to the Manager of Safety, Health, and Risk Management and other relevant personnel.
  • Regularly visit operational locations and conduct ride-a-longs to observe conditions and identify areas for improvement in safety.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships and communication within the operation at all levels, providing counsel to management on safety and risk management.
  • Ensure the effective implementation of the GMR Safety Management System.
  • Serve as a resource to management and employees on exposures to infectious diseases.
  • Assist in the direction of employee health services regarding immunizations, testing, and post-exposure follow-up.
  • Ensure the posting of the OSHA 300A log.
  • Regularly participate in investigations associated with safety and risk incidents.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including information systems security.

Requirements:

  • One (1) year of experience in safety and risk management.
  • Bachelor's degree in health sciences, Occupational Safety and Health, or Industrial Safety is preferred.
  • Skilled in the use of personal computers and associated word-processing, spreadsheet, and database software.
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and employees.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Reporting Relationships:

Reports to: Operations Manager

Interrelationships: Various Operations Managers, Supervisors, Union Stewards, Director of Risk and Safety, all employees, customers, executives, and Administrative Assistants from other companies.
