Job Overview

Advanced Infrastructure Design, Inc. (AID) is a dynamic consulting firm focused on the assessment, testing, and design of transportation infrastructure. We are seeking a Senior Materials Testing Supervisor to oversee roadway and bridge projects. This role is primarily on-site, with potential for occasional remote work.

Position Summary

This is a full-time opportunity offering a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package, including medical and dental coverage, paid holidays, vacation and sick leave, and a 401(k) retirement plan. The key responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing the operations of a construction materials testing laboratory, which includes scheduling and assigning laboratory tests, conducting Quality Assurance (QA), reviewing and submitting testing reports, maintaining laboratory records and accreditation, and ensuring compliance with ASTM, AAHSTO, ACI, and OSHA standards.
  • Leading and mentoring a team of materials inspectors.
  • Coordinating and scheduling field inspection activities.
  • Conducting materials inspections, construction oversight, and laboratory testing.
  • Ensuring effective project management to meet budgets and timelines while adhering to client specifications and industry standards.
  • Preparing proposals and invoices for testing and inspection services.
  • Maintaining communication with clients, staff, and management to deliver high-quality testing and inspection services.
  • Interpreting construction drawings and specifications accurately.
  • Documenting findings and results clearly.
  • Generating inspection reports and addressing non-conformance issues.
  • Acting as the Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) to manage the safe use of nuclear density gauges and maintain relevant records.
  • Supporting engineering tasks such as geotechnical inspections, bridge condition assessments, non-destructive testing, and pavement analysis.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field; an Associate's degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience is also acceptable.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in materials testing, special inspection, or construction management. Experience in laboratory management and project oversight is preferred.
  • Certifications in construction materials inspection and testing from recognized organizations such as ACI, NICET, or NJSAT.
  • Familiarity with radiation safety and operation of nuclear density gauges.
  • Experience supervising inspectors and technicians.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of various construction materials and methodologies.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Valid driver's license in good standing.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and integrity.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.
