About the Role

The Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Part-Time Fish Technician to assist with the daily husbandry of Astyanax mexicanus (Mexican cavefish).

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform daily feedings of Astyanax cavefish according to established protocols.
  • Clean and wash fish tanks to maintain a healthy environment.
  • Assist in managing fish inventory, tracking breeding, and help with the overall upkeep and organization of the fish room.
  • Perform other related duties as necessary.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to follow protocols and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to lift water containers (up to 9L tanks) and perform tasks requiring standing for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience with fish husbandry or aquatic animal care is a plus.
  • Availability to work part-time morning hours between 8am-11am, with a minimum of 10-20 hours per week.
