About the Role

The Senior Applied Scientist will be responsible for developing advanced forecasting models for Amazon Devices using cutting-edge machine learning and deep learning techniques. They will create scalable, accurate predictive models to drive key decision-making that supports critical business decisions for all of Amazon's consumer hardware product lines worldwide.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Design and implement advanced forecasting models using machine learning techniques such as transfer learning, neural networks, and time series models to drive decisions for pricing, promotions, and supply chain optimization.
  2. Write efficient, scalable production code in Python or equivalent to develop and productionalize models using frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, and scikit-learn, collaborating with data engineers to ensure smooth deployment into real-time systems.
  3. Continuously optimize models through techniques like hyperparameter tuning, feature engineering, and cross-validation, leveraging tools such as TensorFlow and Keras to improve performance and scalability.
  4. Communicate complex model results and insights using data visualization tools and provide actionable recommendations to cross-functional teams for pricing, promotions, and supply chain strategies.
Requirements
  1. 3+ years of experience building machine learning models for business applications.
  2. PhD or Master's degree and 6+ years of applied research experience.
  3. Experience programming in Java, C++, Python, or related languages.
  4. Experience with neural deep learning methods and machine learning.
Preferred Qualifications
  1. Experience with modeling tools such as R, scikit-learn, Spark MLLib, MxNet, TensorFlow, NumPy, and SciPy.
  2. Experience with large-scale distributed systems such as Hadoop and Spark.
