Job Summary

As a key member of our medical services team, you will be responsible for conducting medical screenings, administering medications, and providing high-quality patient care to inmates.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough medical screenings of inmates, including assessing medical and mental history, and infectious disease history.
  • Respond to medical complaints from detainees and determine if additional assistance or medical care is required.
  • Administer and document medications provided to detainees under medical orders from physicians.
  • Ensure medications are correct, properly prescribed, and administered in a timely manner.
  • Document any physical or behavioral concerns observed or reported by staff.
  • Retrieve and/or enter data into computerized medical records system.
  • Maintain frequently used clinical supplies and ensure emergency medical treatment equipment is inspected and ready for use.
  • Provide information or training to non-clinical staff regarding procedures for dealing with detainee medical problems or emergencies.
Requirements
  • Completion of an approved course of study leading to qualification as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
  • 2 years of work experience as LPN in an institutional or hospital setting.
  • Must hold a current certificate in Georgia as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent exposure to potentially difficult or impaired patients. The successful candidate will be able to react effectively in medical emergencies and maintain accurate medical records.
