JOB OBJECTIVE:

This position is designed to provide a learning opportunity for an individual pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering.

The selected candidate will gain hands-on experience by supporting engineering teams and assisting in the development and testing of prototype products.


CORE DUTIES:

  • Develop and execute testing protocols for new mechanical systems.
  • Design and fabricate test fixtures.
  • Create engineering drawings under the supervision of a hardware engineer.
  • Build prototypes, create bills of materials, and work with production on assembly instructions.
  • Embody inclusion through actions and words, ensuring a safe and respectful work environment.
  • Apply Promega's 6 Emotional & Social Intelligence (ESI) core principles in daily work.
  • Comply with ethical, legal, and regulatory requirements applicable to our business.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least 1 year of instruction towards a BS in Engineering.
  • Strong desire to contribute and learn.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Self-motivated individual with a track record of being a self-starter.
  • Ability to handle multiple and changing priorities.
  • Some CAD training (preferably AutoCad).
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications (i.e., Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous work experience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to observe and inspect equipment and operations for proper operation and compliance to safety and housekeeping standards.
  • Ability to work in a production environment around automated equipment.
  • Ability to work in an office environment utilizing a computer workstation.
  • Ability to work in a lab environment with chemical, biological, and packaging materials.
  • Ability to remain stationary for several hours at a time.
  • Ability to position oneself in low positions.
  • Ability to move objects up to 20 pounds.
  • Ability to transport items between buildings.
