Position Overview:

The Circulating RN collaborates with the surgical team, including surgeons and anesthesia providers, to ensure a safe and effective surgical environment for patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Adhere to established protocols for medication administration, ensuring compliance with the five rights of medication delivery.
  2. Communicate essential information regarding patients' conditions to the surgical team and other healthcare professionals.
  3. Document findings and actions taken, implementing care plans for continuity of care.
  4. Continuously assess patients' conditions, monitoring vital signs and physical changes to provide appropriate care.
  5. Coordinate surgical care in the perioperative setting.
  6. Ensure a safe environment for surgical patients, minimizing the risk of injury.
  7. Evaluate and implement treatments that support the physiological stability of surgical patients.
  8. Demonstrate understanding of patients' psychological and social responses to surgical procedures.
  9. Maintain accurate documentation throughout the perioperative process.
  10. Assist surgical staff in delivering high-quality care to patients.
  11. Participate in on-call rotations as necessary.
  12. Uphold the highest standards of sterile technique.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in nursing or equivalent; a Bachelor's degree in nursing is preferred.
  • Minimum of 6 months of RN experience in an acute care setting; 1-2 years of operating room experience is preferred.
  • Current RN license in the State of Kansas.
  • ACLS and PALS certification required within 6 months of hire.
  • CNOR certification is preferred.

Skills Required:

  • Knowledge of surgical procedures and protocols.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Proficiency in computer applications such as Word and Outlook.
