$120,000 - $150,000 per year, depending on experience

Job Description

We are seeking a highly experienced Controller to join our team at Thomas Edwards Group. This is an exceptional opportunity for a skilled accounting professional to lead our financial operations and drive business growth.

This role will be responsible for overseeing all accounting functions, including financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of managing a team and implementing efficient processes to ensure accurate and timely financial information.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and finance, with experience in QuickBooks Online and Bill.com. A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required, and a CPA certification is strongly preferred. 8+ years of experience in a similar role is also required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage month-end close for multiple entities
  • Lead the bi-weekly payroll process
  • Oversee daily accounting tasks, including accounts payable processing and tracking, revenue posting, multi-state sales tax preparation and filings, federal excise tax preparation and filing
  • Administer expense report programs – Managing, reviewing, approving and posting monthly expense reports (Concur Corporate American Express program and internal)
  • Manage benefit programs as they relate to payroll process – enrollment, renewals, budgeting, deductions, and reporting (health/vision/dental, 401k,workers comp, tuition reimbursement, student loan paydown)
  • Involved in the annual process for renewal of all corporate insurance lines (ex. preparing current listing of asset values by location, analysis for loss of business income coverages needed, etc)
  • Manage the process of all BPP filings for the retail, office and warehouse locations. Working with the outside tax agent to obtain information needed to file renditions and protest tax valuations
  • Maintain proper and updated documentation for all accounting functions, processes, and procedures
  • Prepare budgets and manage the forecasting process
  • Compile accurate monthly financial statements with comparison to prior periods and provide analysis from those statements on business trends and key metrics
  • Responsible for expense comparisons and analyses at regular intervals to identify irregularities and potential cost savings
  • Coordinate with outside lease administration personnel to analyze and review annual reconciliation requests from landlords against allowed expenses
  • Work with outside accounting firm for annual tax reporting preparation (federal and multi-state)
  • Identifying areas of improvement in the accounting process
  • Hiring, developing, training, and overseeing accounting staff
