Maintenance Technician I Job Description

The Maintenance Technician I plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the Coating Center by performing routine maintenance and repairs on equipment. This includes both electrical and mechanical tasks to keep the plant area and equipment fully functional, clean, and safe.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventive maintenance, general maintenance, and repair tasks, including installation of equipment, work tables, tools, or other items.
  • Maintain calibration of measurement and test equipment, including all applicable records.
  • Follow process instructions, Manufacturing Standard Procedures (MSP's), and verbal instructions from the Site Operations Manager.
  • Maintain, record, and checklists for maintenance performed and inspections conducted.
  • Maintain tools and test equipment in a serviceable state.
  • Adhere to plant and corporate safety policies.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly work area.
  • Fabricate and assemble production fixtures.
  • Fulfill supply request forms to order materials necessary to ensure efficient production equipment operation.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • May monitor and adjust chemical baths, safely handle storage and disposal of chemicals.
  • May assist in other areas or perform other duties as required by fluctuating business needs.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Additional post-high school coursework or apprenticeship in a technical or mechanical area is preferred.
  • 1 or more years of work experience as a maintenance person in an industrial environment is required.

Skills:

  • Ability to communicate uncomplicated data, instructions, production results, quality issues, and similar subjects both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to distinguish between the colors of red, orange, yellow, blue, green, and violet.
  • Ability to use precision measuring tools and equipment.
  • Familiarity with electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read, write, and follow written or verbal instructions.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English.
  • High degree of manual dexterity and hand-to-eye coordination.
  • Hands-on familiarity with electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to calculate basic mathematical functions and formulas.
