Job Summary

The University of New Mexico is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented work-study assistant to support the Art Practices department. As a Studio Monitor and Equipment Coordinator, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient use of art facilities and equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and maintain the organization of art facilities, including supply closets and equipment storage areas.
  • Grant students access to tools and equipment, and provide technical assistance as needed.
  • Store and lock equipment, tools, and supplies in designated areas at the end of each open studio session.
  • Perform tasks such as repairing and painting critique walls and work tables, organizing equipment and furniture, and removing unauthorized signage.
  • Take inventory of classroom equipment and consult with the Art Practices coordinator on repairs and replacements.
  • Redistribute equipment to their appropriate locations with the consultation of the AP Coordinator.
  • Assist with the collection and disposal of left-over classroom materials at the end of each semester.

Requirements

  • Good verbal communication skills.
  • Well-organized and dependable.
  • Preference will be given to students with experience in Art Practices courses and those who have been granted a work-study award.
