Job Overview

As a key member of the Primoris HSE team, the Safety and Compliance Specialist will provide front-line support to ensure operational compliance with regulatory requirements and internal standards. This role promotes a positive safety culture and works with operational leadership to drive continuous improvement of HSE performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate Safety Activities: Work with the Lead HSE Coordinator to direct safety activities and ensure effective implementation of the HSE Management System.
  • Investigate Incidents: Assist in investigations and analyze incident reports to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Correct Hazards: Have authority to correct hazards and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Stop Work Authority: Have the authority to stop work when job activities present unsafe or hazardous conditions.
  • Supervisory Inspections: Assist with supervisory safety inspections, governmental safety standards, and codes.
  • Project Site Inspections: Perform daily project site inspections to ensure compliance with safety protocols.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree: Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Occupational Health, Safety, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
  • Industry Experience: 3-5 years of industry-relevant HSE experience, such as Telecom, Gas Utilities, Specialty Boring, or Heavy Civil/Electrical.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Detailed understanding of Federal, State, and local regulatory requirements.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem-solving ability.
  • Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Adaptability: Ability to adapt well to fast-paced environments with changing circumstances, direction, and strategy.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills, and the ability to coach front-line operations personnel.
  • Teamwork: Must be able to work with a diverse interdisciplinary team to develop improved work processes.
  • Project Management: Experience supporting multiple projects concurrently.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient with MS Excel, Word, and Windows Operating Systems.
  • Travel: Able to travel on short notice and up to 70% (subject to change).
