Key Responsibilities
  • Cleaning and Maintenance
    • Clean all areas inside and outside the school, including offices, classrooms, hallways, and restrooms.
    • Perform scheduled cleaning tasks according to custodial standards.
    • Wash and sanitize sinks, toilets, showers, and other restroom facilities.
    • Empty trash and recyclables from offices, classrooms, and other areas.
  • Grounds Maintenance
    • Mow lawns and trim hedges, shrubs, and trees.
    • Operate heavy equipment to sweep, mop, and clean floors and walkways.
    • Perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks as needed.
  • Equipment Maintenance
    • Operate and maintain a variety of equipment, including lawn mowers, trimmers, and cleaning machines.
    • Perform routine maintenance tasks to ensure equipment is in good working condition.
  • Safety and Compliance
    • Practice safety protocols at all times and ensure a safe working environment.
    • Comply with all relevant laws, regulations, and school board policies.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • High school diploma or equivalent required.
    • Experience in custodial work and grounds maintenance preferred.
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Ability to lift up to 100 pounds and perform physical labor.
    • Ability to operate a variety of equipment, including lawn mowers and cleaning machines.
    • Ability to work well in a team environment and communicate effectively with colleagues.
  • Certifications and Training
    • Basic Facilities Service certification required within probationary period.
    • Ability to complete training programs offered by Broward County Public Schools.
Working Conditions

This is a full-time position with a regular schedule. The work environment is fast-paced and requires the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Salary and Benefits

Salary and benefits are competitive and commensurate with experience. The hourly rate for this position is $22.75 per hour, with a shift differential of $0.35 per hour.
