In the role of Senior Cybersecurity Risk Management Officer, you will act as the principal authority on cybersecurity risk governance, emphasizing the synthesis of cyber disciplines, including mission assurance and supply chain risk oversight. Collaborating closely with the Cybersecurity Manager, Information Systems Security Engineers, and Systems/Network Engineers, you will ensure that all approaches, limitations, and viewpoints are thoroughly evaluated and integrated into risk management and policy-making processes. Your analysis will guide the formulation of strategies, policies, governance frameworks, and implementation recommendations to enhance the integration of cybersecurity practices, facilitating a comprehensive risk management strategy.
The Senior Cybersecurity Risk Management Officer will also undertake Risk Management Framework (RMF) Assessment and Authorization (A&A) duties. You will develop the necessary documentation, validation, and accreditation processes to ensure systems comply with security and privacy standards. This includes evaluating test outcomes, analyzing risks, and preparing security assessment documentation to support accreditation determinations. You will create a risk mitigation strategy and ensure that security configurations align with mandated policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the generation and maintenance of the complete security Body of Evidence (BoE) while directing A&A activities in accordance with RMF processes for various information systems.
- Oversee the development and upkeep of information security policies, standards, and control procedures to ensure compliance with RMF.
- Prepare Security Authorization packages, including System Security Plans, Security Assessment Reports, and Continuous Monitoring Plans, and deliver executive briefings to senior management.
- Conduct security risk assessments as necessary for system upgrades and software/hardware modifications.
- Define and document security authorization boundaries in system security plans, ensuring all interconnection agreements are current.
- Ensure that system security controls include accurate implementation statements and assessment results, and complete necessary artifacts to support findings.
- Maintain and monitor the day-to-day security posture of all Information Systems.
- Review system vulnerability scans, verify the implementation of security configurations, and ensure completion of relevant system configuration tasks.
- Conduct evaluations of required technical security controls, including certification tests and periodic inspections of information systems.
- Develop and execute test procedures for verification of A&A and RMF safeguards to meet customer requirements based on NIST publications.
- Perform periodic self-inspections, tests, and reviews of the IS program to ensure compliance with authorization/accreditation conditions, taking corrective actions for identified vulnerabilities.
Qualifications:
- Active TS/SCI Clearance.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required.
- A minimum of 8 years of directly related experience.
- Must fulfill DoD M IAT-II or IAM-I baseline certification requirements, such as Security + or equivalent.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Experience in developing technical documentation, including artifacts required for A&A under the Risk Management Framework.
- Familiarity with security configurations across multiple operating systems, including Windows, Linux, and UNIX, utilizing Active Directory/Group Policy.
- In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Windows OS (client and server); familiarity with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) is preferred.
- Experience with tools such as eMASS, XACTA, ACAS/NESSUS, Trellix, and Splunk.
- Expertise in risk management processes, incident response, and hardware/software configuration management.
- Ability to analyze, assess, or implement NIST SP security controls and associated assessment procedures.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in cybersecurity Assessment and Authorizations.
- Ability to provide hands-on assistance with cybersecurity tools as needed.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity tool suites, including ForeScout, Avanti, and HBSS.
