Key Responsibilities:
As the Lead Technician, you will:

  • Supervise the SPD team in the absence of a supervisor, ensuring efficient workflow and resource allocation.
  • Provide expert technical support to both internal and external customers.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with processing equipment, including washers, sterilizers, and tracking systems.
  • Implement strategies to minimize errors and enhance turnaround times while maintaining exceptional customer service.
  • Adhere to departmental protocols for the handling of equipment, instruments, and chemicals.
  • Maintain accurate records of sterilization processes and assembly counts using the department's tracking program.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A High School diploma or GED.
  • Certification or eligibility for certification as a Surgical Processing Technician from a recognized training program (IAHCSMM or CBSPD).
  • A minimum of two years of experience in Sterile Processing, Central Service, or Operating Room settings.

Physical Requirements:
This position requires:

  • Extended periods of walking, standing, bending, and lifting, with some instrument trays weighing over 30 lbs.
  • Potential exposure to biohazardous materials and hazardous chemicals.

Personal Protective Equipment:
Compliance with standard precautions and the use of personal protective equipment as necessary is required.
