About the Role

This is a senior technical leadership position that requires individuals who have demonstrated success in designing and implementing reliability patterns for client applications, communication protocols, and back-office services. Our engineers have a passion for quality, efficiency, and reliability, and we are looking for someone who shares this vision.

The successful candidate will work with cross-functional teams, including embedded vehicle teams, data engineers, infrastructure engineers, developer experience, and application teams, to bring these services and client experiences to life. As a key member of our SRE team, you will have the opportunity to shape the future of how we build reliable and efficient software systems for the next generation of transportation.

You will be responsible for:

  • Designing and implementing reliability patterns for client applications, communication protocols, and back-office services.
  • Operating and influencing data collection, processing, and delivery systems that are scalable, resilient, and capable of operating on millions of vehicles at a global scale.
  • Leveraging monitoring and observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog) to ensure system health and reliability.
  • Leading automation efforts to reduce toil and keep our systems running efficiently.
  • Driving incident response efforts, participating in on-call rotation, ensuring root cause analysis, and driving continuous improvement after incidents.
  • Driving postmortem processes, focusing on identifying and remediating systemic issues to prevent recurrence.
  • Participating in mentorship programs to help grow the team from your experience.
About You

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science/Engineering.
  • 8+ years of experience engineering reliability.
  • Experience building and operating enterprise cloud applications.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, and container orchestration technologies like Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with security practices such as DevSecOps, and ensuring secure and compliant infrastructure as part of reliability engineering.
  • Ability to lead technical decision-making, balancing reliability, performance, and cost.
  • Ability to make challenging decisions under pressure.
  • Ability to learn complex systems in order to identify and mitigate incidents.
  • Ability to work well cross-functionally and navigate through ambiguity.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to both technical and non-technical audiences.
