We are seeking a skilled Gas Measurement Technician to join our team at the City of Leesburg, FL. As a key member of our Gas Department, you will be responsible for maintaining natural gas cathodic protection systems to control or prevent atmospheric and electrolytic corrosion.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform cathodic protection field readings and short locations to ensure compliance with public service rules and guidelines.
  • Maintain log and records, and prepare periodic and special reports as required by state and federal agencies.
  • Attend staff meetings to exchange information, and attend in-service training and technical classes to improve technical skills.
  • Assist with MOT job site set up, and assist gas maintenance crew.
  • Work with service and main installation crew, and assist utility locators.
  • Enter test results and prepare reports, and re-read meters.
  • Maintain meter shop housekeeping, and meter shop material control.
  • Perform commercial meter sizing, and eagle temperature and pressure monitor installations.
  • Work with low voltage electronics, and high pressure meter/valve changeouts.
  • Regulate and lock up reg stations.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED, and formal training, special courses, or self-education equivalent to satisfactory completion of one year of college education or specialized advanced training in gas service technology or a closely related field.
  • One year or more basic knowledge of corrosion control maintenance and repair.
  • Ability to obtain a Class A CDL permit within six months of employment, and obtain Class A CDL within one year of employment.
  • Complete and maintain all required OQ certifications.

  • PTO Sell Back program: Employees are eligible to sell PTO time back to the City, a maximum of 2 times per fiscal year for a total of 160 hours.
  • Computer Purchase: The City will finance the employee's purchase of an approved computer system up to $1,000.
  • Fitness Programs: The City will pay 50% payment of the monthly fee for the employee and spouse for one fitness center each.
  • Safety Shoes: The City will pay up to $150.00 per year for the cost of one pair of approved safety shoes/boots for those positions requiring safety shoes/boots.
