MRI Technologist

We are seeking a highly skilled MRI Technologist to join our team at Virginia Commonwealth University Health Systems. As an MRI Technologist, you will be responsible for performing magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) procedures and utilizing radiofrequencies within a magnetic field to produce diagnostic images.
Key Responsibilities- Perform MRI procedures utilizing MRI scanners and power injectors to produce cross-sectional and 3D images.
- Assist with interventional and therapeutic procedures, and perform complex imaging reformatting.
- Recognize patient conditions, assess and monitor patient vital signs, and take appropriate actions in emergency situations.
- Prepare patients for procedures, apply principles of ALARA to minimize exposure to patients, self, and others, and perform venipuncture per procedural protocol.
- Document pertinent exam information in the medical record, maintain archival storage of imaging exams and associated documents, and participate in quality improvement processes.
- Certification by the American Registry of Radiology Technologist (ARRT) or Certification by the Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification Board (NMTCB) ARRT-MRI.
- Current Certification by ARRT-MRI Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers).
- One (1) year of previous MRI Technologist work experience.
- Graduation from a JRC Accredited Program in Radiologic Technology that is recognized by the ARRT; or Graduation from a JRCNMT accredited program in nuclear medicine technology.
This position requires prolonged standing, sitting, and walking, as well as the ability to lift 20-50 lbs. The work environment is fast-paced, with frequent and intense customer interactions. The successful candidate must be able to adapt to frequent change and work in a noisy environment.
This is a PRN position for the Downtown location, with day, evening, and weekend shifts available.
