Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Radiology Technologist to join our team in the General Procedures Pediatrics Department. As a Radiology Technologist, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic imaging studies, utilizing appropriate principles of radiation protection, and exercising professional judgment in the performance of imaging procedures.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Reviews physician's orders to ensure appropriateness of examination being requested.
  • Selects appropriate exposure factors based on body part, pathology, patient's age, and technical equipment characteristics.
  • Reviews images for proper positioning, technique, and identification.
  • Performs a variety of general diagnostic studies with efficiency and high standards of quality, ensuring proper protocol is used for any given examination and evaluates images for diagnostic quality prior to submitting for interpretation.
  • Prepares contrast media for administration to patients and assists physician in the performance of GI/GU studies.
  • Interfaces with customers, patients, and their family members, medical staff, and visitors in a friendly, professional manner, demonstrating consistent use of the AIDET principles and flexibility in accommodating special needs of customers whenever possible.
Required Qualifications:
  • Associates degree in a related medical field of study or equivalent experience.
  • Satisfactory completion of formal Radiologic technology training in an AMA-approved program.
  • Certified by The American Registry of Radiological Technologists.
  • Licensed by the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA).
  • Demonstrates proficiency in performing diagnostic imaging.
  • Functions proficiently with all technical equipment in diagnostic modality.
  • Demonstrates excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Good decision-making and judgment skills.
  • Maintains required continuing education as mandated by The American Registry of Radiological Technologists.
  • Considerable knowledge of standard office practices and procedures along with knowledge of computers and software programs specific to the UCMC and the radiology department.
  • CPR certification.
Position Details:
