Position Overview:
Under the general supervision of the Public Safety Director, Operations Manager, Supervisor, or Charge Officer, the incumbent is tasked with ensuring a secure and safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff within the healthcare facility. This is achieved through the enforcement of security protocols and the vigilant monitoring of assigned areas to identify and report any hazards or unusual activities.

Key Responsibilities:
The individual will provide protective services and respond to incidents to safeguard the people and property of the healthcare institution. Additionally, the role involves assisting in the daily operations of the Department.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • A minimum of a high school diploma is required.
  • An educational background in Criminal Justice or a related field (Associate's or Bachelor's degree) is preferred.

Experience:

  • No prior experience is necessary; however, 1-3 years in security or a related field is advantageous.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license from Massachusetts or the state of residence.
  • Must undergo and successfully complete an annual criminal background check.
  • Required certifications to be obtained during employment include:
    • AVADE Workplace Violence Prevention & De-Escalation Training (within the first 90 days)
    • International Association of Healthcare Safety and Security (IAHSS) Basic Officer Certification
    • First Aid/CPR/AED
    • FEMA IC-100, ICS-200, and ICS-700 (within one year)
    • Handcuffing Training
    • Pepper Spray Defense Training

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Massachusetts License to Carry Class A Licensure.
