Mainframe Infrastructure Advisor

As a Mainframe Infrastructure Advisor, you will serve as the primary technical liaison and resource for our clients, offering expert guidance on troubleshooting and operational execution. Your role will involve fostering effective communication across various departments while exercising sound judgment in all advisory responsibilities.

Utilizing your strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving abilities, you will assist in identifying, articulating, and resolving challenges to enhance our clients' infrastructure. The Mainframe Technical Advisory team is dedicated to maintaining and improving the quality of service provided to our clients through the following:

  • Managing client interactions effectively
  • Implementing proactive and reactive issue management strategies
  • Minimizing recurring issues through thorough root cause analysis
  • Cultivating robust client relationships by serving as a reliable point of contact
  • Collaborating with internal teams to address client concerns

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Technical Delivery Manager to identify and document operational risks, insights, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist in the formulation and execution of enhancement plans.
  • Work alongside Solution Architects to assess and validate the feasibility of proposed solutions, offering recommendations as necessary.
  • Improve Change Order Execution for Optimization and Operations teams.
  • Coordinate and communicate software and hardware technology roadmaps to client stakeholders.
  • Manage and communicate root cause analyses to client stakeholders.
  • Act as an intermediary between Ensono teams and client stakeholders to identify efficiencies, provide thought leadership, and implement process improvements.
  • Travel may be required based on client and organizational needs.
  • Participate in Knowledge Transfer initiatives for onboarding new clients to transition support to Business As Usual (BAU) Mainframe teams.

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in a zOS environment, complemented by a bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Technical expertise across multiple Mainframe teams.
  • Knowledge of disaster recovery planning and execution.
  • Proven experience in client-facing roles and service delivery communication.
  • Experience in onboarding new clients within a managed service framework.
  • Proficiency in liaising with software and hardware vendors.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Mainframe hardware and software infrastructure.
  • Competence in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for creating client-facing documents.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer service capabilities at a management level.
  • Experience in establishing and documenting processes and procedures.
  • Excellent collaboration and teamwork abilities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on issue analysis.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Willingness to take ownership of issues and drive them to resolution.
  • Ability to facilitate meetings and conference calls.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a managed services environment is a plus.
  • Familiarity with mainframe functional areas such as TCP/IP, VTAM, SNA, SFTP, Session Manager tools, and disaster recovery concepts.
  • Understanding of large-scale 24/7 production environments.
  • ITIL certification is desirable.
