Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Accountant I to join our Customer Service & Collections Department at the National Accounting Services Center in Phoenix, AZ. The successful candidate will be responsible for reconciling General Ledger accounts, preparing journal entries, and researching and analyzing financial data to improve methods and procedures.

Main Responsibilities
  • Reconcile General Ledger accounts and research differences, including high-profile accounts
  • Prepare journal entries and accruals, understanding the entries and impact to financial statements
  • Research, analyze, and make recommendations for improving methods and procedures
  • Assist department personnel with research and resolving delinquent customer/vendor accounts
  • Work with our internal Cash Applications team
  • Process vendor and customer refunds
  • Database management, handling accounting processes using Access DB application
  • Train and assist department personnel in specific accounting tasks and in the use of systems
  • Create/update department written instructions
  • Work with retail stores and division and corporate personnel
Requirements
  • Four-year college degree in accounting
  • Two or more years of lead or supervisory experience
  • Collections experience preferred
  • Three or more years accounting experience in a large organization with mainframe-based accounting system
  • Advanced level PC skills, including Microsoft Excel, Access
  • Working knowledge of Oracle or large-scale accounting systems a plus
