Job Title: Communications Manager

The Information Futures Lab (IFL) is seeking a skilled Communications Manager to lead its communication strategy and engage diverse audiences in its work. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in communications, public relations, or a related field, with 7-10 years of professional experience.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive communication strategy to support the Lab's mission and goals.
  • Manage the Lab's website, social media presence, and other digital platforms to engage audiences and share information.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to develop knowledge translation strategies and create engaging content for various audiences.
  • Build and maintain relationships with media outlets, community partners, and other stakeholders to promote the Lab's work.
  • Provide high-level support to the leadership team, including written and visual content development, rapid information sharing, and editorial guidance.
Requirements:
  • BA in communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field.
  • 7-10 years of professional experience in communications, public relations, or a related field.
  • Experience with research translation and audience engagement strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly produce and edit copy for various platforms.
  • Strong proficiency in web content management systems and social media platforms.
  • Knowledge of copyright, image use protocols, and laws governing online posting of intellectual property.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong service-oriented attitude.
Benefits:

Brown University offers a competitive salary and benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off. This is a fixed-term position with a current end date of December 31, 2025, which may be extended based on available funding.

This is a hybrid position, which may include after-hours and weekend work to manage events. The successful candidate will be based in Providence, Rhode Island, and will be required to work on-site at Brown University.
