Job Responsibilities

The Dietary Services Associate plays a crucial role in evaluating the nutritional eligibility of clients within established program parameters. This position involves the independent determination of suitable food packages based on comprehensive assessments of nutritional status, which includes:

  • Conducting dietary recalls and food frequency assessments
  • Evaluating growth and weight trends
  • Reviewing biochemical data and medical histories

Based on these evaluations, the Associate sets personalized dietary objectives tailored to each individual's nutritional requirements. Additionally, the role includes providing targeted counseling to clients and facilitating referrals for specialized support with a Nutritionist when necessary.

Essential Qualifications

  • Fundamental understanding of nutrition principles and dietary standards
  • Completion of mandatory training to achieve Certification as a Competent Professional Authority (CPA) within six months of employment
  • Proven skills in client interviewing and information gathering
  • Ability to interpret, document, and compile routine data effectively
  • Experience in obtaining blood samples or conducting finger stick tests
  • Capacity to provide educational resources to patients
  • Strong communication skills for interaction with diverse patient populations and teamwork within a healthcare environment
  • Proficiency in utilizing computer systems relevant to program support

Additional Considerations

Relevant training or coursework in Dietetics, food services, or a related discipline is advantageous.
