Parks Maintenance Worker Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Parks Maintenance Worker to join our team at the City of Augusta GA. As a key member of our parks and recreation department, you will be responsible for maintaining the beauty and functionality of our parks and facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform a variety of landscaping duties, including planting flowers and shrubs, clearing leaves and debris, and pruning trees and shrubs.
  • Perform maintenance and construction tasks for various parks and facilities, including light plumbing, electrical, masonry, and carpentry repairs.
  • Perform general custodial duties, including cleaning parks, ball fields, restrooms, kitchens, locker rooms, meeting rooms, and other areas.
  • Maintain inventory of equipment, parts, and supplies, including gathering supplies and equipment, transporting supplies to and from work sites, and initiating orders for materials and equipment needed.
  • Operate or use a City of Augusta GA-owned vehicle and various equipment, power tools, hand tools, and supplies to complete work assignments.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • One year of experience in janitorial, facilities, or grounds maintenance
  • Considerable knowledge of maintenance methods and procedures
  • Proficiency in operating floor buffer equipment
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
