Job Description

**City of New York Job Title:** Data Specialist

**Job Summary:** The City of New York is seeking a highly skilled Data Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing day-to-day support to the Director, including serving as a key liaison to the IT unit, obtaining knowledge of business rules and process flows, and developing evaluation instruments to measure the performance of agency programs and services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct evaluation, monitoring, and data analysis related to DYCD initiatives and development of new policies
  • Research best practices and use quantitative and qualitative analyses to inform the creation of new policies, programs, and practices
  • Synthesize complex information into presentations and reports for various audiences
  • Manage written, visual, and digital communications for all CSBG-funded programs
  • Develop marketing materials and social media messages
  • Represent the work unit at meetings and work collaboratively across all DYCD community development, workforce, and youth programs as well as with outside stakeholders
  • Perform field work in all five boroughs to ensure vendor compliance with all applicable contract requirements and program performance standards

Requirements:

  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of full-time satisfactory professional, technical, or administrative experience in one or more of the following fields: program evaluation, contract negotiations/management, fiscal/financial management, or project management
  • Or a four-year high school diploma, or its educational equivalent, and six years of full-time, satisfactory professional, technical, or administrative work experience in one or more of the fields cited above
  • Education and/or experience equivalent to the above
