Senior Software Engineer II

Are you passionate about collaborating with an innovative engineering team to develop systems essential to the company's success? Do you find excitement in working with technologies such as Kubernetes, Docker, and AWS?

Our team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer II to join the Reservations team, which is part of the Search and Supply organization, responsible for the Reservations that link our Travelers with our Supply Partners.

As a valued member of our team, you will create Reservation capabilities that enhance the experience for both our Travelers and Suppliers. You will contribute to the development of cloud-based micro-services and event-driven systems that empower the tools our Supply Partners utilize to manage their reservations at Expedia Partner Solutions.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with team members to co-develop solutions and address challenges.
  • Proactively engage with peers across the environment to collaboratively resolve issues.
  • Take advantage of opportunities to deepen your technical expertise in a specific engineering domain.
  • Seek guidance from subject matter experts when necessary.
  • Understand the significance of system and technology integration, along with the fundamental features involved in the integration process.
  • Develop and test standard software applications and related programs to ensure they meet design specifications.
  • Apply software design principles, data structures, and design patterns to produce clean, maintainable, optimized, and modular code with appropriate naming conventions.
  • Facilitate stakeholder input and collaboration efforts when devising solutions to challenges.
  • Think broadly to comprehend how, why, and when policies/processes are standardized and when they vary across the organization.
  • Utilize formal training methods in your current workload and feel empowered to challenge the status quo.
  • Provide clear reports on your current work status and ask insightful questions when appropriate.

Your Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a Technical field, or equivalent related professional experience.
  • Equivalent experience includes:
    • Developing software in a collaborative environment with at least 5 engineers (agile, version control, etc.).
    • Building and maintaining a software project/product in production environments within public/hybrid cloud infrastructure.
  • Strong proficiency in API Design and Development, web services, and object-oriented design.
  • Experience with Java or Kotlin is preferred.
  • Proficient in algorithms and data structures, design patterns, multi-threading, concurrency, caching, and distributed systems.
  • Familiarity with cloud-computing platforms such as Amazon Web Services.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of how projects integrate within your team.
  • Ability to comprehend moderately complex systems.
  • Capacity to test and monitor your own code.
  • Knowledge of testing and monitoring tools.
  • Proficient in debugging applications.
  • Understanding of how team objectives align with business needs.

The total cash range for this position in Austin is $112,000.00 to $156,000.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $179,000.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.
