Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Veterinary Technician to join our team at the University of Pittsburgh. As a Veterinary Technician, you will play a critical role in providing laboratory animal care and research support, ensuring the well-being of animals, and maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist veterinarians and researchers with laboratory animal care and research procedures
  • Monitor animal well-being and report any concerns to veterinarians or researchers
  • Perform veterinary technical procedures, including medical imaging and anesthesia support
  • Triages cases and provides medical care as needed
  • Maintain accurate and legible records and documentation
  • Order and maintain supply inventory
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
  • Minimum 0 years of experience; combination of education and relevant experience considered
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to work directly with live or dead animals and clean or soiled bedding and caging
  • Ability to wear facility-specific Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required by job duties
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform repetitive motion tasks
