Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Paraprofessional to join our team at Hopkins Public Schools. As a Paraprofessional, you will play a vital role in supporting students with emotional and behavioral needs in a federal setting III program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students, reinforcing learning materials and skills initially introduced by certified staff.
  • Assist certified staff in devising strategies for reinforcing learning materials and skills based on individual students' needs, interests, and abilities.
  • Supervise students in instructional spaces, lunchroom, on field trips, and during bus activities.
  • Observe and document students' academic and social behaviors.
  • Meet regularly with mainstream teachers to discuss student progress.
  • Communicate with licensed programming personnel regarding student needs.
  • Participate in student IEP meetings and provide feedback on progress.
  • Develop and implement behavior plans and assist with de-escalation and redirection.
  • Support students with self-help skills, mobility issues, and other special needs.
Requirements
  • Two years of post-secondary education or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • One year of experience working with children or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to maintain required licenses and certificates.
Working Environment

This position is based in a school setting with occasional travel to locations throughout the district. The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and maintain a positive attitude in the face of challenging situations.

Compensation and Hours

This position offers a competitive hourly rate of $25.62 and up to 35 hours per week. The successful candidate will be expected to work a regular schedule with occasional flexibility to meet the needs of the program.
