Position Summary:
The Registered Therapist II engages in moderately complex therapeutic rehabilitation activities and treatment. Responsibilities include:
- Conducting therapeutic recreation, music therapy, art therapy, dance/movement therapy, and drama therapy (based on credentials).
- Planning psychosocial sessions and completing Functional Skills Assessments.
- Overseeing inventory, equipment, and cleanliness of the designated area.
- Providing guidance to therapist technicians in delivering therapeutic activities.
The Registered Therapist is expected to model appropriate behaviors in the presence of patients and staff, supporting the Recovery Based Program. This role includes access to a limited set of records in compliance with HIPAA regulations and operates under general supervision with moderate latitude for initiative and independent judgment.
Key Responsibilities:
Essential functions include:
- Regular attendance and flexibility in work schedules, including potential rotating shifts and overtime as per agency policy.
- Assessing individual rehabilitation functional skills to inform program planning.
- Establishing, implementing, and adapting individualized treatment plans, including collaborative goal setting.
- Completing initial assessments for all individuals admitted.
- Discussing future program changes with supervisors and sharing updates with program staff.
- Maintaining accountability for inventory and cleanliness of the assigned area.
- Acting as a role model and providing ongoing technical direction to staff in developing and implementing rehabilitation therapy programs.
- Ensuring adherence to HIPAA guidelines in all documentation.
- Participating in departmental meetings, training, and performance improvement activities.
Other duties may include participation in disaster response or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation, which may require alternate shift assignments.
Qualifications:
Successful candidates will demonstrate:
- Knowledge of rehabilitation therapy principles and techniques for various patient populations.
- Understanding of discipline-specific therapeutic modalities in the recovery process.
- Proficiency in implementing and documenting individualized care and recovery plans.
- Skills in operating rehabilitation equipment and tools.
- Effective communication abilities, both written and verbal.
- Capacity to plan and facilitate therapy sessions and groups.
- Empathy and consistency in patient interactions.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and react appropriately in stressful situations.
